Visitor from European Commission

On the 23rd October a translator from the European Commission visited our school. Also our students who visited Luxembourg as a part of Erasmus+ and Jean Monet project talked about their experience there.

Firstly each student who took a part in the project told us about the things that they did there. Some students enjoyed visit in European school and classes they took there, however some of them enjoyed exploring the city more.

Secondly Mr. Stašek who is translator in European Commission talked about his job and life in the heart of the European Union. There was a quiz which was made by him. We got to know how the translating system for all 24 languages works. The education abroad was recommended by him for better language knowledge.

In conclusion I found the lecture very interesting. Honestly I think it was quite usefull for our future. I really appreaciated the option to ask him anounymously whatever I wanted. If I had a chance to listen to him longer I would definetly do it.

Lecture about Erasmus+ in Europe

On the 23th of October we had a chance to attend an interesting lecture about Erasmus in Luxembourg, which was supported by the European Union. The lecture was led by pupils who were chosen for the project a year ago, and by Mr. Martin Stašek.

In the first part, the selected pupils introduced us their journey and explained how they had been selected for the project excursion. They had a presentation about their trip to Luxembourg, where they spent the whole week. The biggest experience for them was the chance to visit a local school The European School Luxembourg II and be a part of the education for a while. They found out that the school system in Luxembourg is a bit different than in the Czech Republic.

The second part was dedicated to Mr. Stašek and his life experiences with the European Union. He told us some basic facts about the European Union and useful tips to become successful if we are interested in being a translator or a worker in the European Union. While having the presentation, Mr. Stašek prepared a quiz for us to make the time more enjoyable. The winners of the quiz got prices.

The lecture gave us much new information about the European Union and the Jean Monnet project, which ten chosen pupils will get an opportunity to attend European institutions this school year. However, we enjoyed the lecture a lot.

Recognition of the EU

On 23th October we and our classmates of the second class of secondary school joined a presentation about Project Erasmus Jean Monnet and about the European House in Prague.

In the first part of the lecture students, who participated in the Project Erasmus Jean Monnet last year, were talking about their experiences with this project. Because of this project they could visit European institutions in Luxembourg. One day they attended the European school, where they could get in touch with students from different countries. They also noticed a lot of differences between Czech and Luxembourgish education.

After them Martin Stašek came. He works as a translator of the EC, who lived in Luxembourg for a few years. We were introduced to the EU system. He was also talking about the European House in Prague.

Two lessons of the presentation were  incredibly interesting. During the presentation we filled out the quiz and in the end we could win a mersch of the EU. We really enjoyed it and we got a lot of new information.

European School Uncovered

On the 23th of October students of second upper grades had a lecture of the students who had the opportunity to visit Luxembourg  with Erasmus+ trip and then continued with a lecture by Mr. Martin Stašek who is an expert on issues about Europe.

The lecture had two parts, first part was hosted by students of our school. They showed us a lot of interesting photos, videos and told us about their own experiences. The most shocking story was about their flight back, when the airport security had been hacked and they were stuck there for over 4 hours!

Mr. Martin Stašek continued with the lecture flawlessly. He told us about his life, life in Luxembourg and his work for the European Union. He showed us all the interesting things that we could see in Prague House of the EU and the whole lecture was supplemented with a quiz where we could win a lot of prizes and our own questions which then he responded to one by one.

We enjoyed this lecture and we really appreciated the honesty from all of the hosts. “ I think it is very important to hear all those information from a real experience and from people who you know for such a long time, it is even more precious.“- Eliška

The European House in our lessons

On the 23rd October, we had an opportunity to be educated by our classmates from the upper classes and Mr. Martin Stašek from the European House in Prague about Project Erasmus + Jean Monnet and about the EU in general.

In the first part, our friends from septima and 3.B, who were on the Luxembourg excursion last year, shared their experiences about our Project Erasmus + Jean Monnet. They created a nice presentation about their time in Luxembourg, which gave us a really good view of what is coming in a few months.

The second part was given by Mr. Martin Stašek, who presented his work as a translator in the European Commission. He did really well, with his interactive outputs in the form of a quiz about interesting European topics.

We had a really nice time, which gave us a lot of useful information about our options related to the EU. Many thanks to Mr. Stašek, to our classmates from 3.B and septima and also to Mrs. Stráská, the teacher who gave us this amazing opportunity.

Our guest

On October the 23rd, Mr. Martin Stašek came and visited our school. We talked about the Erasmus project, which our school joined last year.

Firstly, the students who went to Luxembourg for the project shared their experiences. They visited many interesting places and institutions, such as the European School of Luxembourg II where they met students and went to different classes. They also met students from many countries of Europe. The students said that the security in Luxembourg had been very strict, with lots of guards and fences everywhere.

Martin Stašek had a few words about his job for the European Commission. Then we had a quick quiz about what we knew about different topics of the EU.

In my opinion the lecture was really interesting, I think the "student trip part" was a little bit better, as we could see what we may experience in a few months. But Mr. Stašek’s part was not too bad and I liked it.

The EU and project Erasmus+

On 23rd October, Martin Stašek visited the Bishop Grammar school to talk about his work within the European Union.  Our students, who visited Luxembourg last year joined him and shared their experiences with us.
The students shared their experiences from their trip to Luxembourg. They visited The European school in Bertrange, where they met Czech students and attended different classes, including English, Maths and Civics. The morning ended with a fun singing session. The next day, they met Mr. Gregor from the European Court of Auditors, who shared insights about his work.  On the final day, they celebrated European Day, exploring EU institutions and participating in interactive games. The trip was full of new experiences and learning.
Mr. Martin Stašek told us about his work in the European Union, not only as a translator but also about the quests and responsibilities he faces daily. He shared interesting details about how important languages are in EU institutions. To make it even more fun, he prepared a quiz about the European Union, testing our knowledge of its history and member countries. At the end, he surprised us with some EU souvenirs, which made the whole experience even more memorable.
Overall, Martin Stašek's visit along with our students' presentations, created an inspirational learning atmosphere. Hearing about the European Union from Mr. Stašek and our students who visited Luxembourg, increased our understanding of its functions. The quiz and personal interactions made the event more interesting. I liked connecting our classroom lessons to real-world experiences.

A lecture about Erasmus +

On the 23rd of October we learned about a project called Erasmus plus. The project was presented to us in the 3rd and 4th lesson on Thursday in class 412. This lecture was divided into two sections.
The first section was about memories and experiences from higher grade students. They told us about their memories and funny adventures which they had enjoyed on the trip. They told us about the project in general and what they had done to get there including bonus lessons and preparation for the test that everyone had to take to get the privilege of exploring European institutions.
The second half of the presentation was introduced by the translator, Martin Stašek who talked about the EU. Unlike the students, he discussed both the small and even the larger details covering things about this project created by the European Union which gives college students, universities a certain amount of money to achieve a better understanding of the European Union.
We really enjoyed the lecture and the quiz that was given in the lecture as a 'fun break' so we wouldn't lose concentration and it really worked! We hope that we will join the project and experience a trip like the students before us.

Friends with Europe

On October 23rd, we attended and got to know the lecture by the third-year students and Mr. Martin Stašek about the ERASMUS+ Jean Monnet project.

At 9:55, the lecture began with third-year students who last year went on an exchange programme in Luxembourg, thanks to the Erasmus+ project. They shared their experiences, including visiting a high school where they could try working in different learning areas. There were some challenges with the students’ diverse nationalities in the classroom, where they chose their field of interest. Each student shared basic information about the different areas they focused on. The third-year students also shared stories and memories from the trips and various historical landmarks they managed to see during the five-day stay.

Afterward, Mr. Martin Stašek from the European House in Prague gave us a presentation with a quiz that all the students enjoyed. Mr. Stašek shared his travel experiences and facts about the European Union with us. He also explained how his work operates, where the main focus is on world languages. We learned many valuable facts, which will certainly help some students in planning their bright futures.

We are glad we could be the audience for this interesting program.
